It's Time To Remember The Importance of Forklift Safety

National Forklift Safety Day

The seventh annual National Forklift Safety Day is around the corner. The purpose of the annual event is to raise awareness of the importance of operator safety training and the implementation of forklift safety best practices in daily operations.

A single preventable forklift accident is one too many. By following OSHA safety training requirements and other forklift safety best practices, the number of injuries and accidents can be greatly reduced. That is why the material handling industry's International Truck Association (ITA) developed the concept of National Forklift Safety Day.

This year due to Covid-19, the event will be virtual but will still be filled with a wealth of information and presentations from government representatives, safety experts and material handling industry representatives. The event is free and you can watch from the convenience of your office:

OSHA Complaint Operator Training

Madland Toyota-Lift would like to take this opportunity to remind customers we offer safety training classes to be in compliance of the OSHA regulations. The regulations have detailed requirements for lift truck operator training and certification documentation. The current OSHA regulations state that companies using powered industrial trucks are required to provide their operators with classroom instruction and hands-on training by a trained, knowledgeable and experienced instructor. Upon completion, employees will receive certification documentation.

Operator Recertification

All industrial powered truck operators must be certified to legally operate the equipment. Re-certification is required every three years. It is important to check to see if your current operators are still in compliance.
Madland Toyota-Lift would also like to remind customers of the many forklift safety tools to help instill best practice habits with employees and forklift operators. From daily checklists and forklift fork wear calipers to safety posters and mast decals to help remind employees of the importance of safety.
